Winter Wildlands Alliance believes that citizens of and visitors to the United States, along with future generations, have the right to experience the natural sights, sounds, and quiet beauty of public lands. Our sponsorship of the SnowSchool program extends our vision by fostering environmental stewardship and a love for snowshoeing among elementary-aged children.
Winter Wildlands Alliance is the only national organization working to promote and preserve winter wildlands and a quality human-powered snow sports experience on public lands. Grassroots groups from Idaho, Colorado, California and Nevada joined forces in February 2000 to form Winter Wildlands Alliance, creating a coalition of activists and giving a national voice to our issues.
Winter Wildlands supports local grassroots groups working on behalf of human-powered snow activities—like snowshoeing, backcountry skiing and snow boarding, winter hiking, and cross-country skiing. The Alliance also addresses national issues impacting winter wildlands and human-powered snow sports—such as snowmobiles in our National Parks.
